The Security Bureau has launched a three-book picture-book set for young children, with support from the Education Bureau. The launch took place on October 28.

The books are designed to teach children to respect others, distinguish right from wrong, and care for their family, Hong Kong and the country. Secretary for Security Chris Tang said the stories use cartoon-style illustrations and little text, allowing young children to explore complex ideas through pictures and storytelling.

An Education Bureau under secretary said kindergarten curricula already include developing children’s awareness of the country and respect for the law. He cited learning to keep order, care for the environment and show civic-mindedness.

The chair of the Hong Kong Kindergarten Association said teachers could use the books’ characters to help children consider how to handle situations, while conveying ideas about moral education.
