Seven cats found abandoned near Tai Wo Service Road East in Tai Po were taken by members of the public to the Society for Abandoned Animals in Yuen Long for help on 11 October.
Police and the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Hong Kong) confirmed that all seven were dead at the Society for Abandoned Animals’ premises. Staff at the Society for Abandoned Animals, who suspected the cats had been improperly treated, reported the case to police at about 4pm.
Police classified the case as cruelty to animals and assigned it to the Yuen Long District criminal investigation team. No one had been arrested by the time of the reports.
