A burst water main near Wong Tai Sin Road and Ma Chai Hang Road around 2pm on 29 October led to an emergency suspension of fresh-water supply across Upper Wong Tai Sin Estate, including its shopping centre.

The Water Supplies Department sent five water trucks to provide drinking water. Trucks were stationed outside Kai Sin House, Tat Sin House and Cheong Sin House, where about 50 to 60 people were queuing to collect water at the time of HK01’s report.

The Transport Department said Wong Tai Sin Road was closed in both directions between Ma Chai Hang Road and Nga Chuk Street. KMB routes 7M, 11C and 211, and Citybus route A23, were diverted.

The Water Supplies Department’s website estimated that water supply would resume at 3am on 30 October.
