The Centre for Health Protection reported a confirmed mpox case involving a 33-year-old man, who was in stable condition.
He developed a rash on 21 October and later had a fever. He went to North District Hospital on 30 October and was admitted for isolation and treatment. According to information he provided, he had high-risk sexual contact with a man in Hong Kong during the incubation period.
The Centre said Hong Kong recorded 25 cases from August to 2 November. All patients in that group reported high-risk sexual activity during the incubation period.
Some patients diagnosed since August had been unable to contact newly met sexual partners, making contact tracing and related control measures difficult, the Centre said. It has arranged for dating-app operators to send Hong Kong users regular information about mpox prevention and vaccination. The Centre also advises people to keep their sexual partners’ contact details in case tracing is needed.
Since 28 September, vaccination points have given mpox vaccine to 792 high-risk people, according to the Centre.
