Tai Po Baptist Public School held an opening ceremony and open day at its new Fu Shin Estate campus on August 29, 2026, after students spent the remainder of the 2025/26 academic year at two other Tai Po campuses following the Wang Fuk Court fire. The relocation is intended to reunite staff and students in one safe and stable learning environment before teaching begins at the new site.
The school moved from the Wang Fuk Court area, where it had been affected by the fire. Students were divided between two other campuses while the Fu Shin Estate site was prepared.
The relocated campus occupies a building that previously housed another school. Refurbishment included upgrades to classrooms, toilets and the assembly hall, external wall renovation and resurfacing of the sports ground. Electrical and air-conditioning systems and the lift were also replaced.
The Education Bureau funded the refurbishment and the purchase of additional furniture and equipment, and reserved a one-off HK$1 million grant for relocation expenses. Coverage estimated the main funding at more than HK$43 million or about HK$43.6 million, reflecting differing figures in the reports. The school also thanked the Red Cross for financial assistance, according to i-CABLE News.
Secretary for Education Christine Choi attended the opening, toured the facilities and met teachers and students. According to reports of her remarks, she said the relocation would enable the school community to reunite in a safe and stable learning environment.
The open day featured learning activities covering artificial intelligence, STEAM, English and reading, as well as student performances. Teaching was expected to begin at the Fu Shin Estate campus in the new academic year, although the reports did not give an exact first teaching date or precise refurbishment cost.
