The Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service has extended its student tours from its headquarters to all blood donation stations from the 2026–27 school year. More than 60 schools had booked a lecture or arranged a visit so far that year.
The tour lasts about an hour. Students learn about blood types and donation conditions through games and information boards, then visit areas for haemoglobin testing, donation and blood processing. Staff explain the process and answer questions.
During a tour at Yuen Long Donor Centre, students donated after the visit. One student said he had previously been afraid when his father asked him to donate, but the tour and his own donation experience left him feeling the process was smooth and safe; he planned to donate with his father in future.
